Trip to DC....longest post ever....you are warned!!

First of all this post has taken me all freaking day....blogger has been so slow!! Second of all...this is the longest post ever so feel free to skip it if you would like! A thousand pictures and this is only a hand full of them! DC has so much history and I felt I needed every part I could get! Everything feels so alive there. It was an amazing trip and I am so lucky that Trent and I got to experience it together! The Eternal Flame....the Kennedy's grave site in Arlington National Cemetery. WOW! Arlington was wonderful. It felt like such an honor to be there. It is so very beautiful, powerful and extremely big!! Pictures don't even do it justice! JFK's headstone and right next to him is his wife Jackie.

A very small piece of Arlington. They said that 20-30 funeral services are held here daily.

The Tomb of the unknown....another WOW!! So very peaceful and powerful all at once!

Changing of the guards. Every hour. It was emotional and very honoring to watch!

Arlington Memorial Amphitheater. So beautiful!!! The marble was so amazing!

This was a picture I took while waking across this very long bridge from Arlington to the National Mall. If you have been to DC you can sympathize! We walked a billion and then some miles! Oh yes and it was done in flip flops!!! We are crazy! DC is so pretty. Everything is so green!

This was at the Korean War Veterans Memorial.

Me and the Washington Monument.

Mr Lincoln....

Vietnam Veterans Memorial. This was insane....so many people and so very touching to see! They had these enormous books you could look up names in and it would tell you where they were on the wall! It was so neat to see this in person. You always see these things on TV....but it is so incredible to actually see!!
Had to take this one....some horses butts! Around the National Mall is this beautiful park FULL of squirrels!!! They are everywhere!! And these crazy loud bugs...??cicadas??? that hang out in the trees. Gross!!!!

WWll Memorial....T given the good ol thumbs up to our wonderful place of residence.

For all of you who really know Trent will sympathize this with ridicules picture! While on a walk with his wife he has to take care of work fires....this piece of technology should be glued to his ear!!! This cute little bird (and I hate birds) sat and watched him almost the entire time.

The one and only motor cad....this was pretty crazy! The windows were down on some of the Suburbans and the guys were totally swat'ed out!!!

The one and only White House.

The Nations Capital

The Smithsonian Castle-front side.

The back side.

Are you guys tired of reading this yet????? I kind of am and it was my trip!!!! Haha....

National Air and Space....very cool!

The grand ol Metro station! So, I am kind of a scaredy cat! My husband who dearly loves me did not pick me up from the air port Monday when I got there (working, of course) but had given me instructions for the metro....I totally had to come out of my box on this one! Scared and not knowing where the crap I was!!! I did make it in one piece with little scaring! With the help of a nice strange very black lady! Oh ya and look at my so very cute new t-shirt!!!

This is the National Gallery Of Art....this is the one place Brittyn wanted us to stop and see. She had seen it in a book about a week before my trip and made me promise we would go! She asked me to take pictures of everything and what I could not take pictures of if I would write a description! WOW.....my child is so sweet!!! I did try to take pictures of everything in there for her down to the drinking fountain. But the way cool stuff....no go! They have guards in the rooms that will basically rip your camera from you if caught taking pictures! Bummer!!

This is all in the Gallery Of Art....beautiful....never thought I could really enjoy these things. But I so did! I hope one day to take my artsy fartsy daughter here!

I really loved this piece....I think it is because of the fat little boy in it reminds me of mine! It is called "Madonna and Child with God the Father and Cherubim" Andrew W. Mellon collection 1480.

Again the Washington Monument...

and us!!!!

The last night we were in town we went to dinner with Trent's aunt and uncle. Steve and Laurie Sowby. They are in DC on a LDS Mission. That was really fun to catch up and visit for a few hours.

But the coolest part of my trip I have no photos of!!! They would not allow camera's onto the air force base! Trent pulled some strings and got the hook up. We were able to take a tour of Air Force One....crazy cool!!!!! This plane is huge big!!! It sits so high...looking out the front window was kind of freaky. It had to have been as tall or taller then the tallest peek on my house. And my house is pretty dang tall. The guy who gave us the tour was telling us stories about the last 2 and current presidents. Democrats are more messy then Republicans. Bush ran really early Clinton and Obama run late. Bush had a tread mill that was in his room and ran while in flight. He was always business. Clinton would play cards with all the people that sat in the back. Just fun fact stuff. Trent even sat in Pres. Obama's desk chair in his plane office and the piolt seat. The guys on base were so nice and easy going. But I was scared to move wrong as the whole hanger is guarded by armed guards 24 hours a day. You move wrong and they will have you on the floor peeing yourself! Getting onto base was crazy....I told T I felt like I was going into a prison. Chain link fence with barb wire, metal detectors...WOW! Bomb smelling dogs....like I said....crazy! Being able to see this certain job was so very cool in it's self! Not every day does your husband work for the President of the United Sates. And might I add....he worked dang hard and extremely long hours!! Hearing threw the grape vine Andrews has 7 more plane hangers that are needing to be done.....really?! Like great for ProTech...sucks for me! Two months without T was hard...very hard! I cried a lot a days! I am so so happy to have him home. It has been a surprise to Beau the last couple of days when his dad actually walks in the door in the evening. Pretty funny! I love and adore you T!!!

I hope I have not put you all to sleep. I just found DC so intriguing! I would love to go back! I started this post this afternoon around 1:30 and it is now 11:00. Really??!! Time for bed!

Wow. You did a ton in a couple of days. So lucky you got to go and had a tour guide. Who knew there was so much to see. The Air Force One would have been cool. Good times. Hopefully Trent doesn't cramp your style being home now.
